Navarro’s Smokehouse
About This Spot
Walking into Navarro’s Smokehouse in Englewood feels like stepping into a well-loved local treasure where time slows just enough to savor something deeply rooted in tradition. It’s a warm, unpretentious spot tucked off the beaten path, where the hum of friendly chatter mixes with the rich, inviting aroma of wood-smoked meats. The pace here is easygoing—no rush, just the satisfying rhythm of a genuine barbecue joint where people come not only for the food but also for the subtle comfort of familiar faces and simple, honest hospitality.
The atmosphere carries a sense of community, a place where the soundtrack might be the casual laughter of friends sharing a meal or the gentle clink of plates carrying hearty, smoke-kissed goodness. There’s an authenticity in the air—the kind that comes from knowing each cut of brisket or rack of ribs is crafted with care, reflecting a genuine connection to barbecue as a craft and a communal experience.
As you settle in, the menu unfolds not just as a list of options but as an invitation to explore layers of smoky richness and homestyle sides that round out the experience. From the satisfying blend of tender brisket and ribs to the comforting sides that bring balance—collard greens, beans infused with smoke, and the occasional surprise like a loaded baked potato or a crisp, fresh salad—the food here tells a story of tradition shared across tables and generations.
What makes Navarro’s especially inviting is how it captures the nuanced joy of discovery in barbecue: the thrill of finding that perfect bite, the delight in a favorite side that tastes like home, and the warmth of a place where the people behind the counter feel less like staff and more like welcoming neighbors. It’s a space where even limited hours and the ebb and flow of daily specials add a touch of anticipation, encouraging regular visits and the sweet satisfaction of a well-earned meal.

Ribs and brisket were great macaroni was very good, both beans were smokey tasted more smoke than bean, but overall very good. Would get ribs and brisket next time and macaroni ( I don't usually get macaroni but it was good) also dessert can be a side.

An EXCELLENT place for BBQ!!! This was our first visit and everything from the food to the folks that work behind the counter were top notch. We will definitely be back. This has become one of our favorite places for BBQ… the burnt ends and the ribs are sooooo good!!!

Awesome place! So far everything I've tried has been so good. They are so friendly and accommodating. The halfback tater is one of my faves.

Really great BBQ, no matter what they have at the time you arrive. Hours are limited, and some items run out, but its still a great place to go get whatever they have ready to serve. Our day, at 2:30pm, we had pulled pork, pork tenderloins, or pork belly as meat options. Went with the pork belly and pulled pork, and it was fantastic. We shared, and both really loved the pork belly. But the pulled pork was great as well. Sides are just as excellent. We will be back!

Great food in great surroundings! Visited for lunch, thankfully before they (understandably) sold out of their most popular options. BBQ is one of my favorite food types, and I’ve sampled it all over the country. This is honestly some of the best I’ve ever had. My 2-meat plate had an ample portion of pulled pork and a couple large slabs of brisket. Slaw and baked beans were the sides. Both also very good. (That meal could have easily fed two “normal” people, but it was yummy, I was hungry, and nobody had ever accused me of being “normal”) My wife had pulled pork with mac-n-cheese and baked beans. She was pleased with all, and was disciplined enough to have brought some of each home for later. The folks here were friendly, helpful, and patient as they took orders from some first-time BBQ customers ahead of us. Service was quick and friendly. Seating is 100% outdoors, but under cover. The view and surroundings added to the experience, especially on a perfectly warm early fall day. My only wish is that they were open longer hours, more days, and didn’t take a winter hiatus. But maybe that also makes it more special! I feel crazy for having taken so long to get here, but I’m certain I’ll be back more regularly now.

I asked ChatGPT to recommend a barbecue between Alcoa and Cleveland, Tennessee, and who knew the AI had such incredible taste buds. This was one of the best barbecue meals I’ve had in a long time and I’ve traveled throughout the country looking for the best barbecue. I tried their ribs, brisket and tenderloin plus coleslaw and broccoli salad. Everything was spot on and delicious.

Delicious BBQ! Stopped by for some BBQ after a quick ride in the countryside! Got the brisket, pulled pork, and jalapeño sausage. Everything was tender, delicious, and the portions were filling. I also love their patio, the natural wood looks awesome!

The pork sandwiches and rinds were excellent! The pork sandwich has a huge portion of meat and the price is very fair. One of the best I’ve had. Only wish they had indoor seating.
